Fire Extinguisher & Awareness Course Details
There is a legal requirement for employers to ensure staff are trained in matters of health and safety. This includes fire safety management and the use of fire extinguishers. There is also a requirement to prepare an emergency plan that outlines how the workplace will be evacuated in the event of a fire outbreak. The employer must appoint a responsible person, known as the Fire Safety Manager, to ensure that emergency plans are prepared and that training takes place. This includes training in the use of fire extinguishers and emergency evacuation procedures. This training typically takes the form of fire warden training. Fire Wardens are designated to execute this plan in emergencies. The Fire Warden course aims to inform Fire Wardens of their responsibilities in running a fire drill effectively and safely. It also details the steps involved in developing an emergency Plan for the workplace, if one does not currently exist. All other staff members should be trained in basic fire safety awareness to inform them about fire prevention and to alert them to the dangers of smoke and smoke travel, as well as the steps to take in the event of a fire.
