Mobile Tower / PASMA
"Do I need PASMA to use a mobile tower?" is a common question. Here is the Irish position.
There is no law that names PASMA specifically, but Irish law does require anyone who erects, alters, dismantles or works from a mobile access tower to be trained and competent. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Work at Height) Regulations 2006, work at height must be properly planned and carried out by competent people. PASMA is the widely recognised training standard that demonstrates that competence.
What the law requires
IS EN 15620065 sets out a layered regime rather than a single annual event. Four things run in parallel.

Competent persons Work at height must be planned, supervised and carried out by competent persons.

Tower instructions Visual inspections by a trained PASMA, weekly or monthly according to your risk assessment.

User training The user must be trained — PASMA is the recognised certification for this.

PASMA validity A PASMA certificate/card is typically valid for five years, after which refresher training is required.
