MEWP Training Course (by Third Party IPAF Approved Partner Centre)

What type of MEWP training courses are covered under Operator Training?

• 1B: Static Booms, E.g., Trailer Mount, Van Mount, Spider Lift.
• 3A: Mobile Vertical, E.g., Scissor Lifts, Vertical Personnel Platforms.
• 3B: Mobile Boom, E.g., Articulated & Telescopic Boom Lift.

Please Note:  Both Mobile Booms & Mobile Verticals may be driven in an Elevated Position (subject to Risk Assessment)

Location

We can facilitate IPAF MEWP training at third-party, dedicated IPAF-approved partner centres in Dublin and Limerick, carried out by an IPAF instructor. Additionally, we can arrange for them to attend your site location if required.

Categories Completed per Training Day

1 day, typically from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. : i.e. 3A Mobile Vertical & 3B Mobile Boom

On-site training

On-site training is available anywhere in Ireland, subject to a minimum number of participants and the availability of MEWPs on-site. A suitable room would be required for the theory section of the course, and a Mobile Vertical and Mobile Boom would be needed for the practical test. The Operator’s Manual and a copy of the current 6-monthly Certificate of Thorough Examination for each MEWP are required.

Award

On completion, successful candidates will receive an Operator’s Card and a Certificate of Training. A third party, dedicated IPAF-approved centre will provide this card. Operator’s card & cert valid for 5 years.

Trainee Requirements

Candidates for IPAF MEWP courses must be at least 18 years of age. They must be medically fit to operate machinery.

Course Objectives

To provide delegates with the essential knowledge required to operate various types of MEWPs under three IPAF categories: 3a Mobile Vertical, 3b Mobile Boom and 1b Static Boom categories efficiently and safely.

Training Methods

Presentation with slides, video, printed course material, demonstration, and practical use.

Who Will Benefit?

All those in your organisation who use, supervise or manage the use of MEWPs would benefit from IPAF Operator training. This 3-category course covers Scissor Lifts (Mobile Vertical Lifts), Self-Propelled Telescopic Booms or Articulating Booms (Mobile Booms), Static Booms with Outriggers, including Spider Booms on Tracks or Wheels, Van-Mounted Booms, Truck-Mounted Booms, or Trailer-Mounted Booms, subject to receiving familiarization on the model machine being used.

IPAF WAH/HARNESS inspection training can also be included with MEWP  (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) Training if required.
