Our Fire Safety Instructor course will provide the successful candidate with the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to competently deliver Fire Warden (Marshal), Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher Training.

 

Each delegate will receive a comprehensive resource pack including PowerPoints, Test Paperwork, Videos, Legislative Guidance, Fire Risk Assessment Forms and other useful documents to allow them to deliver their own Fire Safety, Fire Warden & Fire Extinguisher Training.

We also provide a Hot Works PowerPoint presentation and resources to all delegates.

Candidate Requirements

All candidates must have a good understanding of oral and written English.  A training or health & level 6 safety qualification or equivalent is highly recommended.

COURSE CONTENT:

Module 1 – Fire Safety/Science

  • Legislation – 2005 Act, 1981 & 2003 Fire Services Act, HSA, HIQA
  • Fire Statistics
  • Nature and behaviour of fire.
  • Nature and behaviour of smoke
  • Fire prevention & management
  • Behaviour Issues of people regarding fire alarms & emergencies.
  • Classes of fire

Module 2 – Classes of Fire and Fire Extinguishing Methods & Equipment

  • Classes of Fire
  • Inspection of Fire Extinguishers
  • Maintenance of Fire Extinguishers
  • The Selection and Use of Fire Extinguishers
  • Participants will then be trained in the practical use of extinguishers
  • Fire Detection and Alarms (Overview)
  • Fire Blankets
  • Fire Hose Reels

Module 3 – Role of Fire Warden & Emergency Procedures

  • Pre–fire / post-fire duties of the Fire Warden
  • General Emergency Plans and Evacuation Procedures
  • Design and documentation of Fire Evacuation Plans & Records.
  • Identifying and Managing Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPS).
  • Fire Drills – Running, Management & Evaluation of Fire Drills.
  • Risk Assessments & Fire Safety Management

Module 4 – Running a Fire Safety & Fire Warden Course

  • Review of resource material
  • Instructor & trainee feedback and evaluation
