Asbestos Awareness Training

Asbestos, a mineral known for its carcinogenic properties, comprises flexible fibers that possess resistance to heat, electricity and corrosion. These qualities made asbestos valuable for various product applications. However, these same qualities contribute to the risks associated with asbestos exposure.

During this training course, participants will learn more about what asbestos is and the dangers it represents :

o the potential risks to health from exposure to dust arising from asbestos or materials containing
asbestos
o the existence and meaning of the established exposure limit value
o the operations which could result in asbestos exposure
o the importance of preventive controls to minimise exposure
o the control limit and the need for atmospheric monitoring
o the properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the synergistic effect of smoking
o the types and products or materials likely to contain asbestos
o the hygiene requirements necessary, including the need to refrain from smoking, eating or drinking
where there is a risk of exposure to asbestos-containing dust
o safe work practices, control measures and protective equipment
o the appropriate role, choice, selection, limitations and proper use of respiratory equipment;

o the special precautions to be taken to avoid or minimise risks associated with exposure to asbestos-
containing dust, including the need to wear protective clothing and the need to use protective equipment
o emergency procedures
o decontamination procedures
o waste disposal procedures; and medical examination requirements

Who Should Attend the Emergency Retrieval Training ?

for all employees who are, or are likely to be, exposed to asbestos-containing dust. Training shall be easily understandable to employees and shall enable employees to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills as regards prevention and safety.

Training Assessment / Certification ?

All candidates who successfully complete the course will receive a POBS certificate for Asbestos Awarness which lasts 3 years

Half day / Full day duration. Limited to 12 candidates
